Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball Mouse

Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball Mouse Ubuntu 16.4, works exactly like a 3 button mouse is supposed to work in that distribution.

All three buttons and the wheelwork as expected, and even the "forward/back" buttons on the extreme left edge page backward and forward through documents or through browser pages, just as they do in windows. It's interesting because Logitech's own FAQ states unambiguously that this mouse *won't* I work on Linux. That is absolutely false. In the recent distribution of Linux, at least, it works great.

In a way, I work better in Linux than in Windows, in the following sense: I bought one for my Linux computer at home, and another to use at work with the Windows 7 computer supplied by my employer. I plugged the receiver into my Linux computer and was fully using the mouse, literally, in 1 SECOND! It immediately came to life!

Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball Mouse works with pretty much all operating systems. The USB chip dongle usually identifies as a standard mouse driver in the system and the operating system will not know if it is a wired mouse or a wireless mouse because of the pre-programmed dongle. something similar or plug the dongle into a windows system and program it with that then plug it back into the Linux system!

Get review:

So many reviews, this product doesn't need mine, but it is so perfect ergonomically that if your wrist hurts from your mouse or you have carpal tunnel, this will actually cure it. I first began using it when I was a designer, literally 9 hours a day with the mouse and more at home. I'd gotten to the point that I learned how to use a mouse with my left hand because my right was shot.

Getting this trackball for the first time allowed me to return to using my right hand and feel NO PAIN at the end of the day. That first one was in 2001. Since then I'd buy my own for work and for home because most employers figure the $6 mouse supplied with computers is just fine. it's not, it's a career-killer if it leaves you in pain and slows you down. Now I have a Logitech keyboard and trackball on the single tiny USB port fob.

I customize my two buttons for projects, such as when I'm going to work heavily in Photoshop, then change it back when I'm working in Word. How long do they last? Pop the ball and clean the sensor/cavity if you notice any delay or weird response. Mine usually die when the click button starts to have trouble making contact. Since I use it several hours a day, a couple of years is typical and doesn't bother me.

If you Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball Mouse use it 3-4 hours a day 6 days a week, yours would last 6-10 years. Worried about adjusting? For some reason, it's not hard, even if you've been mousing for decades. Strangely, it will take you about 2 days to adjust to the different motions to move the cursor before it becomes instinctive. The neatest part is not needing a mouse pad; those who work in bed or on the couch will love it.

It has a good range, so if you're using a TV or big monitor and the computer is over there, moving the cursor through menus from a chair is no problem. I bought one of these back in 2007 and put it in a AA. I had no idea at the time that I had just purchased something that would be with me for a LONG time. To be honest, I've got ADHD and ASD, and the shiny blue, perfectly round heavy ball looked amazing to play with, and super tempting.

I told myself I would NOT play with this fancy toy until the mouse broke. This would be a very long exercise in keeping my word to myself and resisting temptation. This mouse was super easy to use, I just plugged in the little dongle, and it was ready to go. Loved how quick it was to plug and play, and while the tracker ball took a little getting used to, considering I had only used the movable kind of mouse before, I found it fairly intuitive and easily adapted to using it.

This mouse has customizable buttons on it that I was able to set things to for playing MMOs, It was quick and dependable for letting me get high scores on flash games. I am an artist, and one day my Wacom tablet broke, and I just.... used the mouse. Because of the smoothness of the tracker ball, I was able to draw with it and get the lines smooth and right where I wanted them.

Update:

I have 3 of these and use them on all my Linux systems. They work great. The only thing you need to know is that Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball Mouse provides NO support for reprogramming the Unify dongle on a Linux system to connect other Logitech devices.  Either do the dongle/device association on a Windows system with Logitech software, or do as I have always done, and use a free program called Solaar (sic) which is probably in your repository already. It also reports the state of the mouse battery.
