The FoodSaver FM3620 Food Preservation System is a vacuum sealing system that extends the life of food by removing most of the air from sealed containers.

I had a Food Saver that finally gave out after about 10 years so I got this one as a replacement. I like that it has a storage area for the bag material and a built-in attachment for the Food saver bags. The bag cutter really sounded like a good feature but it doesn't work --- at all.


What a huge disappointment!!! I gave this 3 stars because the vacuum feature, sealer, and attachment for bags work really well. Just don't count on the cutter for being useful at all. Well due to the Hurricane this fall my V4440 failed, this did not break my heart too much. The Wind-up Aux hose had been broken for a couple of years. The Auto suction and seal were flakey from the beginning. All that said, it lasted a couple of years.

I have replaced it with a food saver FM3620 vacuum sealer Manual machine. I purchase this direct from Food Saver however since I buy most things on Amazon I choose to Review here. This is a much simpler machine with a somewhat quieter operation. So far I like it a lot. The footprint takes up much less counter space. Has a hard plastic Aux hose that he pre-coiled. You pull it out and let it go and it coils itself back up in the machine mostly correctly.  

I prefer the Manual operation as it works every time without having to keep poking the bag in to trip the Auto Action of the Automatic machines. Not sure why this one is not prime here it should be or maybe it's an older model I don't know it's FoodSavers list of current models. I will come back to the Review another year or so to see if I have a change of heart.

If my experience with this unit is any measure, it appears this unit fails to seal. I've probably held on to Foodsaver FM3620 vacuum sealer too long to make a warranty claim (I use the previous foodsaver unit I own to seal instead of this replacement unit!). Having said this, I would not buy this unit again. Here's what the unit does: it seals before all air is removed and, no "workaround" like putting pressure on the unit by leaning on it will increase the seal for suction.

Update:

Followed all directions precisely. Went through (3) rolls of plastic, ALL seals had failed by the next day. The only reason I gave one star is that it is easy to use, BUT it takes a LONG time to cycle, and then the seals fail.
