Get product review:
I just had to write this review as soon as I got the Logitech ERGO M575 Wireless Trackball Mouse. It's just so impressive, at least straight out of the box. Personally, I think once you adjust to a trackball, you'll never want to go back to a mouse. I have two very old M570s. They've been dreams to own. They are no longer manufactured by Logitech and according to recent reviews, the most recently produced ones don't compare to the older ones in terms of lifespan or quality.
One of my M570s has seen only light use, while the other has seen very heavy use. The left-click button eventually went wonky on the one which was heavily used. Reviews indicate that the newer M570s have been subject to "cost-effective" redesigns to hold their price down and they now often fail pretty quickly. In any event, save the money you would spend on one of the remaining M570s and step up to the M575.
It's a bit larger so it feels better, the button clicks are much better, the scroll wheel rolls very pleasantly in a notch-type fashion, it feels like it's made out of slightly better materials, and it's got the option of blue-tooth (which doesn't matter to me at all). Really, everything about the M575 is better than the M570. I also really like that it takes an ordinary battery and not a rechargeable one, but this is a matter of personal choice.
An AA battery goes forever in these things. Seriously, shell out for the M575 over any remaining M570s out there. The M575 is just so much nicer. Now, let's just see if the Logitech ERGO M575 Wireless Trackball Mouse can match the lifespan and durability of the original M570s (mine are so old that I can no longer remember not having them). Right out of the box, I plugged in the USB port, pulled the strip out from the battery area, and turned it on.
It immediately hooked itself up to my computer and worked in seconds. This model also has some strips on the bottom that keep it from sliding off the side mouse pad on my pull-out keyboard tray, so that's an improvement over my older model. I prefer the battery over having to recharge it... I already have to charge so many other things, I would rather not have another one. AA batteries last a long time in these.
NOT SAYING THE LAST ONE WAS A PIECE OF JUNK. It was a very well-built mouse and it lasted me 10 years. I hope that this new one lasts me just as long if not longer. The
Logitech ERGO M575 Wireless Trackball Mouse keeps everything I loved about the M570, but with slight and subtle improvements to the shape, smoother ball movement, and the addition of Bluetooth connectivity. They took a product that I loved and resolved the few small complaints that I had about it. This is my ideal mouse.
