Westinghouse Wh2200ixlt – Inverter Generator

The Westinghouse Wh2200ixlt – Inverter Generator is a dependable source of backup power for your home during a power outage, simultaneously powering most refrigerators and large appliances such as furnaces and sump pumps.

With a 79cc Westinghouse 4-Stroke OHV Engine, the WH2200iXLT Gas Powered Inverter Generator produces 2, 200 peak watts and 1, 800 running watts, generating power from two 120-Volt household outlets and one 12-Volt DC power outlet. Weighing only 43 lb. and featuring a built-in carrying handle, it is convenient and portable also making it perfect for camping, tailgating, and other recreational activities.

It operates as low as 52 dBA, quieter than the volume of an average conversation to provide a community-friendly low tone. Producing power with less than 3% THD, it is safe to use for sensitive electronics such as plasma/LCD televisions, entertainment systems, computers, tablets, or mobile devices. Pair up two for twice the power and double the fuel efficiency of a traditional generator using the Westinghouse Parallel Cord which allows it to be combined with another WH2200iXLT or iGen Series Inverter Generator.

Weighing in at 43 pounds, the Westinghouse Wh2200ixlt – Inverter Generator is much smaller and lighter than traditional generators. A built-in handle also allows for easy transportation. Amplify your wattage by combining two WH2200iXLTs using the Westinghouse Inverter Parallel Cord (sold separately) for 3600 combined rated watts of power! Just plug-and-play. The WH2200iXLT operates at a volume quieter than the average person speaks, making it ideal for use at night and in sound-sensitive situations (52 dBA).

After spending months investigating different Westinghouse Wh2200ixlt – Inverter Generator, I chose this one based on the company's name and reputation as well as the reviews from other customers. I did have a slight concern regarding their customer service, based on some of the posted reviews. So, when I removed it from the box and found several fins on the air cleaner access cover were broken, I was disappointed and concerned.

I contacted customer service on Tuesday morning. Although I did have to wait on hold for about five minutes, I was finally connected to Ginger who explained that all the customer service representatives were busy. She took all of my information and told me a CSR would be in touch as soon as one was available. In less than 30 minutes, I received an email to confirm the part I needed.

Once I supplied the necessary information, the part was on its way and arrived Saturday afternoon. I hadn't even officially registered my purchase at the time. Once I had the part installed and filled the generator with gas and oil, it started on the first pull. And it was extremely quiet. I hooked my circular saw up to it and ran it for about five minutes with no issues.

We hope to use this to power our RV this summer, so I'll be able to update my review in the spring when I see how it handles that. But for now, I'm extremely pleased with the product and the Westinghouse customer service. I did quite a bit of disassembly on this unit before ever firing it up, to install the Westinghouse Wh2200ixlt – Inverter Generator high "altitude" carb jet. I was impressed that the clamshell case was held together with plenty of machine screws into threaded metal inserts rather than sheet metal screws into plastic.

Most of the case has foam bonded to the inside for sound reduction. Overall it seems like quality construction. The efficiency mode is a great feature. Keeping the RPM low not only saves fuel but helps hold down the noise. Where I live, at just over 8,000' elevation, it doesn't run perfectly smoothly even with the leaner jet but any small engine that's not fuel injected would do the same to some degree.

Westinghouse Wh2200ixlt – Inverter Generator seems to deliver the power though, even with an occasional burp which is more noticeable in efficiency mode. This is the best inverter generator for this size on the market in my opinion. Although I know there are others out there that are reliable including the Predator from Harbor Freight. Get on YT and check out Generator Power. He does very thorough reviews and then makes your choice.

Very reliable and half the price of a Honda. Honda’s are great too but why pay twice. I even communicated with a Westinghouse engineer on this on break-in and oil changes. Book says every 50 hours but engineers recommend every 25-30 hours for longevity. I have owned mine for three years and love it. Remember all equipment needs to be run and used properly to last. When you start any generator let it run a few minutes before you attach a load to it.

Then when finished with it, keep it running while you detach the load. Let it run a bit then shut it down. This is best for the generator. Even when not in use, I start and run it every so often and attach a load to it as I have related with proper procedure. Power went out during a storm so, after getting bored, decided I wanted to watch tv and have some light. Filled the oil, filled the tank, the Westinghouse Wh2200ixlt – Inverter Generator ran for hours giving me light, a fan, internet connection, power to tv.
